The Thistle Amongst the Lilies

The Thistle Amongst the Lilies: A Collection of Original Compositions by Montreal Pipers For The Great Highland Bagpipe by Jeff McCarthy

The Thistle Amongst the Lilies is the culmination of over 15 years of composing by Montreal piper Jeff McCarthy.  In his many years of playing for The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada, he has been inspired by events or people (or just for the fun of it) to compose a few "guid wee choons".

In collaboration with a few old friends, composers from the Montreal piping community, he has put together a collection which is "old country" in intent but fresh in it's addition of tunes, old and new, to the repertoire of Scotland's most famous national instrument.

The Thistle Amongst the Lilies has 52 pages, is spiral bound with a full color laminated cover and contains 40 tunes, covering the full range of light music.  The tunes are set up on the page in "landscape" style, which makes it easy to set the book up on a music stand to practice with.

The book has background information on the tunes, and on the composers as well. This book is an enjoyable addition to the music collection of every piping enthusiast, and many of the tunes allude to aspects of one of the oldest Scottish communities in North America. Get your copy today!
